Non-woven laid scrims for outdoor-sports

Non-woven laid scrims Introduction

This product is a Laid Scrim (glass, polyester, carbon, or hybrid), a cost-effective, open-mesh reinforcement fabric positioned as the reinforcement platform for the Outdoor Sports category — covering sail laminates, table tennis rackets, kiteboards, and the sandwich technology of skis and snowboards. It is manufactured by chemically bonding continuous filament yarns (Glass, Polyester, Carbon, Cotton, Flax, Jute, Viscose, Kevlar, Nomex, etc.) into a flat-laid open mesh (square or tri-directional), then supplied as a standalone roll or laminated carrier for integration into foil, non-woven, and composite skin stacks used in sports-equipment mills. Due to lightweight, high strength, low shrinkage/low elongation, and corrosion resistance, the scrim offers measurable value compared to conventional reinforcement concepts and bonds readily with many material systems common to sail-loft and board/racket laminating lines. Ruifiber makes these scrims to order for specific usages — designed to satisfy customer requests and be highly compatible with their process and product.

Non-woven laid scrims Characteristics

Non-woven laid scrims Application

Primary Use: Reinforcement Across the Outdoor Sports Composite Stack

The core application of this outdoor-sports grade laid scrim is as the hidden tensile grid laminated into the skin stack of multiple sports-equipment categories — sail laminates, table tennis rackets, kiteboards, and the sandwich technology of skis and snowboards. It is sandwiched into the composite stack to:

Prevent Skin/Foil Tear Under Flutter, Bend & Impact

Sail skins (foil + non-woven/film) see constant flutter, batten gust, and shearing; board/racket sandwiches see flex and impact loading. The scrim’s multi-directional tensile arrests tear initiation at seams, corners, and clew/tack/edge zones, extending gear life without adding weight.

Stabilize Thin Sandwich Builds

In kiteboards, skis/snowboards, and table tennis rackets where thin sandwiches are the norm, the scrim keeps the foil–composite face flat through flex cycles and impact, while adding negligible weight to the final gear.

Enable High-Efficiency Laminating Across the Category

50,000 m roll length feeds high-speed laminating and sandwich lines with fewer splice stops — higher yield per shift, more consistent batch appearance across sail, board, and racket programs.
