Primary Use: Reinforcement for Automotive Engine Casing Wraps & Sound-Deadening Composites

The core application of this automotive-grade laid scrim is as the hidden tensile grid laminated into or between​ the non-woven / felt / foam / GMT stack that forms the engine casing shield, sound-deadening pad, or NVH damping layer — and by extension the same scrim platform also serves seat cushions, door-linings, rear shelves, headliners, undershields, outer wheel-arch liners, foams punched parts, and seat back trims​ within the same Automotive category. Add Thermal & Acoustic Barrier Integrity Without Bulking

Engine-casing shields and sound-deadening pads see engine heat, oil mist, and constant vibration. The scrim adds multi-directional tensile and tear resistance at very low GSM, reinforcing the felt/foam/non-woven sandwich without thickening the panel or blocking acoustic pathways.

Maintain Dimensional Stability Through Press & In-Car Cycles

The scrim’s low elongation keeps the engine casing / sound-deadening panel flat through press-forming, trimming, and engine-bay thermal/vibration cycles (-40°C to >150°C), preserving fit around the engine block, transmission, and firewall.

Enable Lightweighting & NVH Targets

With glass, carbon, or hybrid scrim options, the same felt/foam/GMT stack can be down-gauged while holding strength — supporting OEM lightweighting and NVH damping strategies for engine-bay and cabin-noise programs.
